Safe Routes To School Study
This study provides for an area-wide evaluation of bicycle and pedestrian facility connectivity within the Watertown-Jefferson County Transportation Council (WJCTC) Boundary, with special emphasis on connecting residential communities to schools, parks, and urban core areas and activity centers. The study area for this connectivity study includes the WJCTC urban boundary area including City of Watertown and extending out to adjacent communities such as Dexter, Brownville, Evans Mills, and Carthage.
DRAFT REPORT NOW AVAILABLE FOR PUBLIC REVIEW
The Watertown-Jefferson County Area Transportation Council (“WJCTC”) has released the draft report for the Safe Routes to School Study. The draft report includes recommendations for bicycle and pedestrian safety improvements in Watertown and adjacent communities such as Dexter, Brownville, Evans Mills, and Carthage.
WJCTC, the area’s designated Metropolitan Planning Organization, encourages parents, students, and concerned community members to to view the draft report and provide comments. Comments will be accepted until April 1, 2026.
